Hey Gang!

Guess what? Race season is almost here!!!! There’s almost two feet of snow on the ground but training will go on! As we watch the snow slowly melt away it’s time to dream of warmer temps and outdoor cycling. The trainer is getting old.

So let’s plan some races. Kick On Triathlon will be ready for action this year with plans to be set up for your race day support at these races: Kinetic Half, May 10th; Columbia Triathlon, May 18th; Culpeper Sprint/International, August 2nd/3rd; and the Patriot’s Half, September 6th. This schedule is still subject to change and other races can be added if there are folks racing other venues. If anyone is interested in signing up for race day support at these stops email me at coachbrian@kickontriahtlon.com and we will get you on the list. Race day support includes: Kick On Triathlon tent, personal bag drop, and post race refreshments. Not to mention the company of all the other athletes! Makes for great post race stories!

As you plan your race schedule for this season don’t forget to support a couple of local events. Sadies Race to support Smile Train will be May 18th. This race is coordinated by Sara Ablard in memory of her daughter Sadie. It’s a fantastic 5K run in Purcellville and is always fun so make a note to check it out. Jenn Dunn has put together the inaugural half marathon to benefit Ainsley’s Angels. The race will take place on September 28th and Jenn is still working out course details but will have the website up soon. But mark the date on your calendar. Jenn and Sara have both devoted significant time and energy to putting together these awesome runs so please show them all the support you can!

Don’t forget Kick On Triathlon spin classes are still rolling on at the Unison Store. The next class will be Sunday February 23rd. It will be a three hour spin followed by a thirty minute run. Drop-ins are welcome and you can come for all or just part of the class if three hours doesn't interest you! It’s a great time and running from Unison is great. So let me know if you wanna come and sweat with us! You can drop me an email or just show up on Sunday. The more the merrier!!

Race season has already kicked off for some folks. Congratulations to DeAnna and Jason Burke, Jenn and Mike Dunn, and Tam and Tom Dunlap! They just completed the Key West Half Marathon. Not a bad place to get the race season started…no snow down there! Way to go guys and I hope the sunburn is all healed up!

And last but not least good luck to Catherine Cockrill, Kelly Marie Cockrill and Petra Groat as they get ready to run the Rock N Roll Marathon and Half Marathon in DC on March 15th. This will be Catherine’s first marathon and Kelly Marie’s return to marathon after focusing on triathlon for a few years. Petra Groat will be competing her first half marathon and plans to use the race as a stepping stone to her first international distance triathlon. They’ve put in some great training and are all amped up and ready to race so good luck and Kick On!

That’s all for now. Let’s hope this week’s warmer temps clear out the rest of the snow and outdoor training can begin again! Let me know if anyone has news they want in next month’s newsletter so we can get the info out there.

Kick On!
